Western Bucegi, nature and sights
This 8 nights itinerary uses our Riverside House as a base to explore the area. Most of the walks are local, or within a 20 minute drive, The western side of the Bucegi get relatively few walkers, so most of the time nature is our only companion, and we get to enjoy the unfolding moutain landscapes in stillness and quiet.

Day 1 Arrivals Bucuresti Otopeni airport, transfer to Cheia (3-4 hours drive-time).
Day 2 Local orientation walk, see the village, discover the local paths, climb a little.
Day 3

Longer walk, climbing a little to walk along a ridge overlooking the Moeciu valley, good views of spectacular west side of the Bucegi mountains.

Day 4 Short drive to walk in Zarnesti gorges and, if there is time up to the old village of Magura, with spectacular views of the Piatra Craiului.
Day 5

Free day. Transport arranged to Brasov , and /or Sinia. Brasov is an old Saxon town and regional capital. Brasov has an interesting old centre, and it's a short distance from Piona Brasov, a winter skiing, and summer walking resort. Other options also possible

Day 6

Drive to Busteni on the other side of the Bucegi mountains. Take a cable car up and walk down to Iolomita gorge, caves and church. Walking up the other side of the ridge before descending to Moeciu/Cheia or Bran.

Day 7 Longer walk into the Bucegi mountains up to a waterfall, or past a shepherds house (Stinga), and we can climb higher to the tops of the Bucegi if weather (and people!) permit. Views over the area unfold quickly as we ascend, and if we are lucky we may spot Chamois and Black Goats.
Day 8 Travel to Bucharest for flight home
