Hiking in the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului mountains
The 8 day itinerary below is typical, but there are a lot of walks possible in the area, and we are happy to adapt to group ideas where appropriate. The walking develops during the week to a demanding ascent of Piatra Craiului. and there is a chance to explore Romanian culture mid-week.

Day 1 Arrivals Bucuresti Otopeni airport, transfer to Cheia (3-4 hours drive-time).
Day 2 Local orientation walk, see the village, discover the local paths, climb a little.
Day 3

Hard trip in the Bucegi Mountain National Park. We climb the flanks of the Bucegi mountains along Devils Waterfall to the highest peak of the range (Omu, 2505m), before exploring the inner plateau, on the long circuit which returns us to Moeciu.

Day 4

Mountain village walk, which takes in the Dimbovicioara gorges, and gives you the chance to get your feet ( and more!) wet.

Day 5

Free day, example activities: Afternoon tea with Dracula, in Bran Castle? Transport arranged to Brasov , and /or Sinia. Brasov is an old Saxon town and regional capital. Brasov has an interesting old centre, and it's a short distance from Piona Brasov, a winter skiing, and summer walking resort.

Day 6

Scramble time. This ascent of Piatra Craiului starts by winding up through tree covered slopes before we make our way up 800m of limestone ridge. A view over 100's of kilometers of forests awaits.

Day 7 Recuperation walk locally, and farewell barbecue
Day 8 Travel to Bucharest for the flight home
