Romania has some of the most unspoilt and natural
countryside in Europe, including the majority of the Daube Delta.
The delta is well known for the diversity of its bird life. including
over 300 species of resident and migrant birds. Less well known
are the mountainous regions ranging from lower hills, around 1000m
in elevation, to the higher ranges peaking at over 2500m. These
are also the home of a wide range of birds, and some of the largest
populations of bears, wolves, and lynx in Europe, companions to
deer often seen in the distance.
